Hello . . .
I’m Wayne.
Contact: waynepgregory@gmail.com
I am the author of The Tongues of Men and Angels (Rebel Satori Press), a memoir about growing up gay in the religious world of the /1970s South. I am also a contributor to the well-received anthology, Fashionably Late (Eldredge Books). My work has also appeared in The Sun, Alltopia, Ashe Journal, The Hawthorne, and the Lambda award-winning anthology, Portland Queer. I was a 2010-2011 Atheneum Fellow and also a 2011-2012 Hawthorne Fellow. For thirty years, I was a professor of linguistics/ESL with positions in the TIUA Program at Willamette University, and at Portland State University.
I’m currently an adjunct teaching fellow at The Attic Institute of Arts & Letters in Portland, Oregon and a freelance writer/editor. I am also the curator and “cook” at Food Cart for the Soul.
I’ve been a card-carrying member of the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus for nearly 20 years, a father of 6, and a grandfather of 14. If you ever hear me speak, you’ll recognize that my vocal and storytelling mannerisms are rooted in the deep South – specifically for me, the southern part of Louisiana just north of New Orleans. For the last 35 years, Oregon and Portland have been my home.
